Firefighting!

So, I am active in the local VFD (That's volunteer fire department) - for all you acronym lovers ;) Both in the city where i study and the city where my parents live. It's something I absolutely love! Anytime I get an SMS, a little bit of adrenaline hit's the system and I check my phone without delay. If it reads "402B Byggnadsbrand; Medelstor...", the adrenaline will rush and I scramble to the fire station as fast as possible. I have a few pictures, they are not very good, but it's what I have to offer right now.

Very often, I am presented the question of if i would start to do this for a profession rather than just as a volunteer. But I am afraid that it would turn it from a hobby that I love, into a job that I would get tired of doing, not wanting to wake up in the morning for another shift... Because right now, even an unwarranted fire alarm is a rush!

Also, whenever I present this occupation to people from Russia or Ukraine, the first thing they say is "It's very dangerous!" I don't think it is, we have a good safety culture and deaths on this job are seldom heard of. I know of one case in modern history. I would like to claim that working as a repairman at the papermill was more dangerous, I did that for one summer.
